Lead Control Systems Architect - Everrec

Everrec is seeking a Lead Control Systems Architect who is enthusiastic about transforming classic automobiles into advanced electric vehicles. We invite individuals who are eager to contribute to our mission of merging the classic allure of vintage cars with modern electric powertrains.

At Everrec, we are pioneers in the automotive sector, focusing on the conversion of classic vehicles into innovative electric models. Our goal is to ensure that these timeless machines not only retain their charm but also embrace sustainable and high-performance electric technologies.

In addition to catering to individual car enthusiasts, we have a robust B2B segment. Through our Powered by Everrec (PBE) division, we are crafting revolutionary electric vehicle solutions for prestigious clients, advancing the frontiers of EV technology, and playing a vital role in promoting a sustainable future. Our diverse clientele includes original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), technology aficionados, and sustainability advocates across various industries.

The position emphasizes the development of comprehensive vehicle electrical systems and control mechanisms, enhancing our existing vehicle control unit (VCU) platform, and collaborating with external partners on intricate software initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Model Development:

  • Lead the creation of next-generation electronic control units (ECUs) through model-based software development, including software-in-the-loop (SIL), hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), and vehicle testing and validation, supporting a platform-centric approach to electric vehicle design.

Control Architecture:

  • Participate in defining the overarching vehicle control architecture and strategy, ensuring alignment with project technical specifications.

Design and Implementation:

  • Oversee the design, development, and delivery of various low-voltage vehicle systems software and hardware across multiple electric vehicle projects, collaborating closely with the mechanical design team to ensure timely and budget-compliant project execution.

Compliance and Validation:

  • Develop system-level design failure mode and effects analysis (DFMEA) and design verification plans (DVP), ensuring adherence to relevant regulatory standards. Conduct component, system, and vehicle-level testing to support DVP completion.

Requirements Management:

  • Create system and component-level requirements documentation and manage supplier relationships to ensure hardware delivery aligns with project timelines.

Technical Support:

  • Provide hands-on assistance to the workshop team and technicians, troubleshooting complex electrical issues on prototype vehicles and documenting engineering changes.

Project Oversight:

  • Manage the Bill of Materials (BoM), budget, and project timeline for your systems/projects, ensuring supplier compliance with project milestones.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of vehicle control strategies and model-based software development.
  • Experience in automotive system design, development, and implementation.
  • Knowledge of vehicle electrical and control architecture.
  • Familiarity with DFMEA and DVP methodologies.
  • Understanding of CANbus systems and data logging analysis.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in electrical hardware design and development.
  • Hands-on experience working on vehicles in a workshop setting.
  • Knowledge of vehicle low-voltage systems and harnessing best practices.
  • Experience in low-voltage harness design.
  • Familiarity with electric vehicle system architecture, including motors, traction inverters, DC-DC converters, power distribution, and thermal systems.
  • Experience with functional safety and electric vehicle legislative standards.
  • Willingness to engage in all facets of vehicle development.
