We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Methods Engineer to join our team at Sir Robert McAlpine. As a key member of our Methods team, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing construction methods that are practical, effective, efficient, economic, and safe.
Key Responsibilities- Provide support to the Methods team in reviewing and inputting to the constructability of permanent designs.
- Develop and implement structural works execution strategies.
- Prepare and manage methods and plant preparation schedules.
- Participate in technical and price studies for different construction solutions for the structure.
- Set execution methods in line with the Programme and Quality-Safety-Environment rules.
- Conduct studies regarding site installations and lifting equipment, working closely with the lifting team.
- Determine all plant resources needed for steelwork erection, cladding installation, M&E logistical movements, and safety.
- Monitor and inspect manufacturers of special plant and equipment, including consultation, ordering, checking calculation notes and fabrication drawings, acceptance in factory, dummy assembly, and packaging.
- Manage Methods technicians, engineers, and draughtsperson.
- Monitor studies of technical risks (Methods) of the project.
- Engineering degree qualified and a construction engineering industry-related professional membership (e.g. ICE, IStructE, MCIOB, etc).
- Experience of working on large construction projects (£100mil+).
- Knowledge of the full Microsoft Office suite.
- Autocad skills to review or sketch designs preferred – but ability to pick up software with training quickly.
- Coordination and negotiation skills.
- Technical knowledge and commercially-minded.
- Methodical, have authority, tenacious, and have a sense of responsibility.
