We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Highways Associate Director to join our client's team in Birmingham. Our client is a leading consultancy with 14 offices across the UK and internationally.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will be Chartered with a relevant engineering institution and have significant experience of highways technical design delivery. They will be required to be client-facing with good team leadership skills and willing to develop the technical skills of junior staff within the group.
Key Responsibilities- Technical design and delivery of multiple concurrent projects
- Undertaking the role of Highways Discipline Manager or Highways Discipline Director
- Day-to-day management, direction, and training of staff while undertaking project work
- Acting as a role model for others in the company
- Developing relationships between the company and new and existing clients and identifying potential work
- Contributing to or preparing fee budgets, proposals, and resource requirements for projects under control
- Coordinating with other engineers in regional offices and technical groups
- Managing the preparation of calculations, drawings, and other documents and ensuring control during project execution
- Managing and liaising with clients on proposals and project work
- Specifying and/or managing site examination and investigation works in a safe and effective manner
- Identifying and managing risks for work under control to agreed acceptable levels
- In-depth knowledge of DMRB/MCHW and detailed design experience on road schemes above £5M construction value
- Detailed technical skills across key elements of highways design
- Liaison with direct stakeholders
- Professional Qualifications: CEng + MICE and/or MIHT or Experienced near-chartered engineer with 10-15 years of experience
- Essential Software: Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD
- Experience in following software: MicroStation, Microsoft Project, Civils 3D, MX, Infraworks, Windes/Microdrainage, PDS Sign/Line, Arcady, Lighting Reality
- Alignment design, Drainage design, Pavement design, Road restraint design, Signs & Markings design, and Lighting design
- Experience of Design and Build schemes, including supporting schemes through Construction
- Understanding of related highway disciplines preferred, including inter-alia, structures, earthworks, ITS, landscaping, road safety, traffic analysis
- Knowledge of BIM protocols in BS1192
