Role Overview
We are seeking multiple Educational Support Specialists to contribute across diverse curriculum areas at our college sites. In this fulfilling position, you will assist in the planning and execution of exceptional teaching, learning, and assessment for young individuals, including those with Education, Health and Care (EHC) plans, both inside and outside the classroom.
As an Educational Support Specialist, you will possess a strong conviction in the potential of young people to reach their academic and personal aspirations. You will establish high expectations and foster self-esteem and independence. Your role will involve aiding learners in engaging with educational activities and collaborative learning through digital platforms and assistive technologies.
You will create and sustain a constructive and supportive educational environment, adhering to lesson and curriculum plans. Collaborating with the teacher or tutor, you will implement strategies to help students achieve their learning objectives. Your teaching will progress from simpler to more complex tasks, breaking down challenging skills into manageable components to promote learner independence and essential life skills.
Key Responsibilities
Establish clear communication and maintain a professional rapport with the teacher or tutor, ensuring mutual understanding of expectations. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, effective verbal and written communication skills, empathy, and adaptability to meet the diverse needs of learners and staff.
Qualifications Required
Applicants must hold or be working towards Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English. A Level 3 qualification in supporting teaching and learning is also required.
Departmental Collaboration
In this role, you will work closely with the vocational curriculum team, reporting directly to the Curriculum Manager and collaborating with tutors to support learners in the classroom.
