Lead Building Surveyor

We are collaborating with a Local Authority in Surrey to find a qualified Lead Building Surveyor for a temporary engagement. This role is set to commence immediately, with the possibility of transitioning to a permanent position. The compensation is competitive, with a daily rate negotiable up to £320 through an Umbrella company.
The successful applicant will possess extensive expertise in evaluating and surveying various property types, along with a solid understanding of building services and must have access to a vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver a thorough building surveying service to the Authority, addressing all property types while emphasizing effective and compliant maintenance.
- Oversee and manage repair and renewal projects for properties owned by the Authority, including both Housing Revenue Account and Corporate assets.
- Conduct condition assessments for a diverse array of residential and non-residential properties.
- Lead initiatives to maintain comprehensive programs ensuring property compliance with statutory regulations.
- Assist the Legal and Estate Management teams by providing building survey and inspection guidance related to contractual liabilities, preparing condition schedules, negotiating claims, and supporting the Right to Buy process.
- Perform audits and inspections of properties for various purposes, including energy management and stock condition oversight.
Required Experience:
- A minimum of four years' experience in a building surveying capacity, demonstrating a high level of professionalism.
- Proven experience collaborating with teams across an organization to enhance service delivery.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
- In-depth understanding of building structures, services, and common defects.
- Extensive experience in inspecting and surveying a variety of properties, coupled with a working knowledge of building services.
- Strong proficiency in building project design, CAD drafting, specification preparation, condition survey preparation, and building cost estimation.
- Solid knowledge of construction project procurement, contract management, and cost control.
