Automation Systems Commissioning and Development Engineer

East Midlands Region

Premier Technical Recruitment is seeking an experienced and highly skilled Commissioning and Development Engineer to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the commissioning and development of innovative special purpose automation machinery and systems for a range of customers across the UK and occasionally overseas.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in automation systems, with experience in commissioning and fault finding of control and safety systems. They will also possess excellent hands-on skills and a solid understanding of mechanical systems and machine control systems. Additionally, they will have experience with PLC coding and troubleshooting, as well as programming and integrating 6-axis, Scara, or Delta robots into automation systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Commissioning and developing special purpose automated machinery and systems within strict project timescales and budget
  • Organizing and achieving successful customer sign-off testing to specification and timescale (FAT & SAT)
  • Fault finding of control and safety systems at Head Office and customer sites
  • Modifying and developing software, PLC & HMI coding for automation projects as required
  • Ensuring automation solutions are delivered to appropriate H&S requirements, complying with machinery directives and national and internal standards
  • Updating associated electrical design documentation where necessary
  • Developing machine processes to achieve relevant performance requirements
  • Performing programming on various robotic systems
  • Providing on-site support and servicing of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Liaising with customers and suppliers throughout project lifecycles

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Appropriate Electrical qualifications
  • Understanding of electrical systems, including commissioning and fault finding
  • Understanding of Pneumatic circuits
  • Experience of interfacing to Injection Moulding Machines
  • A full UK driving licence
