Work Schedule

Full-time - 35 hours per week

Part-time - minimum 21 hours per week

Compensation

£14.05 per hour, with additional enhancements for night and weekend shifts as applicable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and implement daily comprehensive care for residents, addressing their individual requirements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: personal hygiene assistance; mobility support; infection prevention; aiding residents with cognitive impairments, and end-of-life care; changing bedding, managing laundry, safe disposal of medical waste, and maintaining inventory of equipment such as wheelchairs.
  • Perform clinical and medication-related tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
  • Collaborate with volunteers, Wellbeing Coordinators, and therapy teams to facilitate and promote engaging activities.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with various stakeholders, including a key worker role for designated residents.
  • Assist with dietary needs and preferences, serving beverages and aiding with meals.
  • Maintain accurate records (including complex documentation) related to care and regulatory compliance.
  • Lead and participate in handovers, team discussions, and supervision sessions.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Level 2 in Care (or equivalent qualification or experience).
  • Ability to deliver personal care with respect and dignity (including assistance with nutrition, bathing, and toileting).
  • Educated to GCSE (or equivalent) level, including mathematics and English.
  • Proficient in IT with a basic understanding of Word and Email.
  • Awareness of the needs of older adults and a foundational understanding of dementia.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and CQC standards.
  • Familiarity with basic first aid, manual handling, and food safety practices.
  • Experience working with older adults, individuals with disabilities, and/or dementia.
  • Experience in a nursing home, hospital, sheltered housing, or social care environment.

Desirable Skills

  • Level 3 in Care (or a commitment to pursue this qualification) for Senior Care Assistants.
  • Skills in people management and development.
  • Clinical experience in areas such as oxygen management, catheter care, basic observations (blood sugar levels, dressings, etc.).

Role Overview

As a Care Support Specialist, you will provide essential assistance and care to our residents, helping them with their daily activities. Building strong, trusting relationships is fundamental in this role, as it supports their overall health and well-being.

Training and Development Opportunities

You will receive comprehensive support and training, enabling you to advance to a Senior Care Assistant role, where you will work under the guidance of our Registered Nurses, managing more complex care tasks and taking on greater responsibilities for residents within the facility.
