Job Summary

The Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Podiatrist to join our team in the MSK service. As a specialist practitioner, you will be responsible for assessing and diagnosing patients with musculoskeletal conditions, including rheumatoid and diabetic foot. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement treatment plans, including specialist footwear and ankle/foot orthosis.

Main Duties

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking clinical assessments, including neurological, vascular, and pathological investigations
  • Developing and implementing treatment plans, including specialist footwear and ankle/foot orthosis
  • Working closely with our team to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Managing a complex caseload, including foot and foot-related conditions
  • Recognizing peripheral vascular disease, leading to tissue necrosis and gangrene, and taking appropriate action
  • Recognizing clinical infection and recommending/undertaking the correct course of action

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Assurance of professional knowledge as evidenced by a 1st degree level qualification or equivalent
  • Postgraduate qualifications in specialist courses and training as necessary up to diploma level
  • Competent to apply local anaesthesia techniques as certified under the Medicines Act 1968
  • Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

Desirable qualifications include membership of the Society of Podiatrists and active participation in clinical network specialist interest groups.

The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post. If you do not meet the Welsh Language requirements specified, the Health Board offers a variety of learning options and staff support to help you meet these minimal desirable requirements during the course of your employment with us.
