This is a fixed-term research position available for up to 30 months at the University of York. The successful candidate will play a key role in the HIDDEN FRONTIERS project, a NERC-funded initiative that aims to understand the history of agriculture and crop adaptation in the circum-Alpine region.
Key Responsibilities:- Extract ancient DNA from archaeological specimens and prepare high-throughput DNA sequencing libraries
- Process palaeogenomic datasets using bioinformatic tools
- Integrate ancient DNA data with palaeoenvironmental data to investigate adaptation
- Present research findings at international conferences
- Lead peer-reviewed papers
- First degree in archaeology, bioinformatics, genetics, or a relevant discipline
- PhD in ancient DNA analysis, bioinformatics, genetics, or a relevant field of archaeological science
- Knowledge of bioinformatics and experience analysing genomic datasets
