Bioinformatics Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatician to join our team at Fera Science. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in applying bioinformatics skills to a variety of production and research areas in crop health, soil health, food safety, and environmental science.

• Perform bioinformatics analysis in a broad range of applications and projects.
• Evaluate and implement bioinformatics methodology and software.
• Develop new bioinformatics analysis approaches.
• Develop and maintain bioinformatics pipelines.
• Write technical documentation on bioinformatics activities.
• Contribute to project reports and manuscripts.
• Attend customer-facing meetings and internal/external conferences.

• MSc or higher in biology, computer science, maths, statistics, bioinformatics, or a relevant subject.
• Experience in DNA sequence data analysis, including high-throughput sequencing platforms.
• Sound understanding of molecular biology fundamentals.
• General knowledge of DNA sequencing platforms and data outputs.
• Proven experience in Linux/UNIX, Bash, and at least one of R, Python, or Perl.
• Ability to write clear documentation and plan work to deadlines.
• Collaborative working skills and a keen interest in learning new technical skills.
