Become a First Call Operative Engineer

Are you a qualified Gas Engineer with CCN1 & MET1 certifications, seeking a fulfilling contract that offers a balanced work-life schedule along with a new training opportunity?

ATA Recruitment is collaborating with a leading gas utility company to recruit Emergency Response Gas Escape Engineers, working exclusively Monday to Friday during daytime hours.

In this position, you will receive comprehensive training, which includes obtaining your CODNESP1 (Gas escape qualification) and hands-on training with the gas utility provider, complemented by mentorship before you start responding to emergencies as a gas engineer.

Role Responsibilities:

Your primary responsibility will be to efficiently restore gas supply to customers, addressing both internal and external gas escapes reported by the public. You will also handle pressure issues, reroute piping, conduct surveys, and manage reconnections to the gas supply after disconnections, all while ensuring minimal disruption to customers.

Compensation Package:

  • Base salary: £40,000.
  • No on-call or standby duties.
  • Monday to Friday – 8-hour shifts scheduled between 8 am and 8 pm.
  • Fully funded 1.5-day course for your CODNESP1 qualification.
  • Two weeks of First Call Operative training plus two weeks of mentorship in your area.
  • £2,000 bonus paid at the end of the contract.
  • 23 days of holiday plus bank holidays (pro rata).
  • Provision of high-quality tools, a fully equipped vehicle, uniform, fuel card, and training.

Candidate Requirements:

Applicants must possess experience in the gas sector, demonstrating a solid understanding of gas appliances, testing, purging, and the commissioning of piping systems. Knowledge in the installation, replacement, and maintenance of gas meters, along with familiarity with relevant Standards, Legislation, Codes of Practice, and Health and Safety regulations, is essential.

We seek individuals with strong communication skills, the ability to remain composed under pressure, a valid UK driving license, and proficient pipework skills.
