Position Overview

The Medical Equipment Management Service (MEMS) is in search of a Clinical Scientist to enhance our Clinical Engineering division.

Located in a prominent area, you will collaborate with a dedicated team of Engineers and Scientists to deliver extensive technical assistance for the governance and management of medical devices throughout the organization. This role offers the chance to engage in all facets of clinical engineering across the equipment lifecycle, particularly emphasizing the strategic replacement of medical devices. You will partner with clinical professionals to create technical specifications that align with clinical requirements and facilitate equipment trials and assessments. You will spearhead the integration of new devices into clinical settings and establish appropriate maintenance and support frameworks.

A solid background in medical device management is crucial, especially with experience in executing equipment replacement initiatives within a healthcare environment. Exceptional communication skills are necessary to manage a complex workload that involves multiple stakeholders from various healthcare disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

The role encompasses four main areas: Electronics and Mechanical Workshop, Medical Equipment Training, Equipment Library, and Clinical Engineering. The Clinical Engineering team is primarily accountable for the management of medical devices across the organization, which includes planning for the replacement of medical equipment, providing technical support for patient safety, ensuring device connectivity, and overseeing research and innovation, asset register management, and external maintenance contracts.

This position is situated within the Clinical Engineering section. The incumbent will engage in all aspects of Clinical Engineering, focusing on device safety and inventory oversight. The primary objective of this role is to manage the planned replacement of medical devices throughout the organization. The post holder will collaborate with Finance and Procurement teams to contribute to financial planning and assist in procurement strategies. There will be a strong emphasis on collaboration with clinical colleagues to comprehend clinical applications, develop thorough specifications, and support the integration of cutting-edge technology to fulfill clinical needs. The post holder will initiate and oversee equipment trials and technical evaluations, contributing to the broader process of supplier and product selection and the deployment of the chosen solutions.
