Position Overview
The Financial Accountant plays a crucial role in maintaining consistent and compliant accounting practices across the organization while driving high standards. This position will support regulatory compliance and ensure that accounting practices are both consistent and efficient. A primary responsibility is to provide accurate financial information. You will collaborate closely with the global finance team and key stakeholders at all levels to implement best practices. Your ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, and effective communication will be essential in this dynamic and fast-paced environment. Curiosity about our operations and a desire to enhance processes for all stakeholders will be key attributes.
Key Responsibilities
In partnership with the Group Finance Director and the broader finance team, your responsibilities will include:
- Overseeing the preparation and delivery of consolidated and subsidiary statutory accounts in compliance with UK GAAP.
- Facilitating the external audit process, managing relationships with the audit team and internal stakeholders to ensure timely and successful outcomes.
- Identifying areas for improvement during audits, making recommendations, and implementing new processes and controls.
- Assisting the CFO and Group Finance Director in ensuring regulatory compliance and providing technical guidance on accounting treatments.
- Supporting compliant accounting practices and documentation related to revenue recognition.
- Contributing to group cash forecasting and enhancing working capital management.
- Reviewing and recommending improvements to finance policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Ensuring a compliant tax environment, including R&D, Transfer Pricing, Thin Capitalization, Deferred Tax assets, VAT, and employment taxes.
- Managing requirements for annual insurance reviews.
- Performing ad-hoc tasks as required by the Group Finance Director.
Qualifications
Essential Skills:
- ACA qualified accountant with experience from a top 10 firm, possessing at least 5 years of post-qualification experience.
- Strong technical expertise in financial accounting and tax within a global business context.
- In-depth knowledge of FRS102.
- Experience in developing and implementing financial controls and processes.
- Adept at navigating a fast-paced environment with ambiguity.
- Results-oriented with a focus on service delivery.
- A mindset geared towards continuous improvement and change management.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, capable of effective communication at all organizational levels.
- Experience in private equity or venture capital-backed businesses is advantageous.
- Proficient in Microsoft applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
