An exceptional opportunity is available for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a prominent main contractor at their Aberdeen office. The organization is well-regarded for executing intricate, high-value projects, and the successful candidate will become part of a rapidly expanding power division. Their clientele includes major entities and their projects encompass the construction and refurbishment of substations as well as high voltage overhead powerlines.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be instrumental in overseeing a range of projects while also managing a small team of surveyors, guiding them in their professional development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management: Supervise and control all financial aspects of projects, including the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
  • Financial Reporting: Deliver precise and timely financial reports, encompassing cost forecasts, valuations, and final accounts.
  • Contract Administration: Effectively manage contracts, ensuring adherence to terms and conditions while handling any variations or changes.
  • Risk Management: Recognize and alleviate potential financial risks throughout the lifecycle of projects.
  • Supplier and Subcontractor Management: Negotiate and oversee contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring value for money and quality of work.
  • Client Liaison: Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, providing regular updates and ensuring satisfaction with project delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and support junior quantity surveyors, promoting a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in quantity surveying, particularly in infrastructure projects.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline. Professional membership with RICS or equivalent is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical and numerical abilities, excellent attention to detail, and proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS Excel, cost management software).
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills, with the capability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
