An exciting opportunity is available for a Utility Arborist Specialist to become part of our dedicated arborist teams. This position offers a competitive salary range of £32,540.35 to £34,832.91, commensurate with experience.

At ENWL, our tree management team plays a crucial role in ensuring reliable electricity supply by minimizing the risk of power outages caused by tree interference.

We implement an annual tree management program aimed at significantly reducing and preventing power interruptions while actively maintaining our overhead network.

As a Surveyor, you will operate autonomously, collaborating with landowners to perform UA5 surveys on ENWL's extensive overhead network. You will be responsible for managing your own tasks, ensuring all survey aspects are completed to maintain trees near overhead power lines effectively. Key responsibilities include:

  • Engaging and negotiating with third parties to secure optimal tree clearances;
  • Collaborating with clients to develop comprehensive tree clearance programs;
  • Delivering exceptional customer service during interactions;
  • Preparing tree management work packs that adhere to operational standards;
  • Conducting site-specific risk assessments and integrating safe working practices into work packs.

In accordance with British Standards, you will prune trees to preserve their natural form. As falling branches are a primary cause of unplanned power outages in the region, joining our team will provide you with the opportunity to influence both the vegetation surrounding overhead power lines and the electricity supply for residents.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to foster successful working relationships;
  • RFS in arboriculture or equivalent qualification;
  • NPTC UA1 + UA5 certification;
  • Basic chainsaw operation skills (desirable);
  • Aerial rescue training (desirable);
  • Experience with windblown/medium trees (desirable);
  • Valid driving license (essential), preferably with B+E (trailer towing);
  • LANTRA/NPTC chipper certification (desirable);
  • Backpack spraying NPTC certification (desirable);
  • Proven teamwork abilities with a capacity to mentor less experienced colleagues;
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work independently;
  • A results-oriented mindset with the capability to meet deadlines;
  • Proficiency in using laptops, word processing, and spreadsheet software.

This role is based from our operational depot, and you may be required to work across various locations.
