Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer - Conversion Expert

Job Summary:

Gibson Search is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer to join our team as a Conversion Expert. As an Electrical Engineer within our organisation, you will be responsible for designing and implementing electrical solutions for the detection of gas and explosives in hazardous areas, ensuring compliance with ATEX, Ex, and IEC Ex regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop electrical systems for industrial material handling equipment, taking into account extreme space constraint limitations and ensuring integration into original machine electrical systems.
  • Specify and select components for integration, including Ex certified primary traction batteries, fuses, cables, and signal and power cables.
  • Develop project specification documents, drawings in AutoCAD, and define electrical enclosure layouts and population.
  • Specify product test requirements and produce product risk assessments and paperwork to support certification.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including BOMs and project management documents.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of electrical cabling for automotive, industrial, or marine applications.
  • Hands-on experience with electrical wiring and design of electrical systems using AutoCAD.
  • Ability to specify test requirements and select components for integration.
  • Understanding of electrical/mechanical system integration and creation of project documents.
  • Project management skills and customer support experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad knowledge of electrical and electronic control systems, including AC inverters, industrial controllers, and PLCs.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment and background in fault finding complex electrical systems.
