About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised law professional to join our organisation as an Assistant Team Leader leading our Pro Bono Team of Intern Caseworkers. The successful candidate will have a background in Family law and be familiar with drafting witness statements, helping our Intern Caseworkers complete effective witness statements on behalf of victims suffering abuse or violence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily supervision of the Pro Bono Caseworkers and their work
  • Checking and editing witness statements generated by the Caseworkers
  • Preparing court paperwork and keeping draft paperwork updated
  • Send out case papers as soon as possible once completed
  • Assist with dealing with Caseworkers queries regarding cases and giving feedback
  • Assist with the administration of calls within the Pro Bono team
  • Training and developing the Caseworkers knowledge of drafting, call taking and any other training needed in order for them to conduct their work effectively
  • System management making sure it is up to date
  • Other ad hoc tasks as required

Requirements

  • Proven supervisory experience
  • Law Degree or equivalent
  • Drafting experience – ideally witness statements
  • Excellent communication skills both with internal and external parties
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Good organisational and administration skills

Desirable Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of Family Law – desirably in Domestic Abuse
  • Legal Assistant or Paralegal experience
  • Experience of working in a law firm

About the Organisation

The National Centre for Domestic Violence is a not-for-profit organisation helping victims of Domestic Abuse and Domestic Violence obtain injunctions against their perpetrators. We offer a free service to the public offering victims support either through Legal Aid via our panel of Solicitors or a Pro Bono service for those who do not qualify for Legal Aid.
