CHP Engineer

Thames Water is seeking a skilled CHP Engineer to join our team. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for maintaining, diagnosing, repairing, and optimizing the performance of a fleet of Combined Heat and Power (CHP) spark ignition biogas engines located across various Thames Water sites.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintenance and Repair: Carry out planned and unplanned maintenance of the fleet of CHP Spark Ignition generators within a geographical region.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work with current CHP support staff and suppliers to ensure all maintenance is carried out safely, with the least possible downtime, and within budget.
- Record Keeping: Completion of service records and reports in an accurate and timely manner.
- Parts Identification and Procurement: Identification of parts required for order, lubricants, and waste.
- Health, Safety, and Wellbeing: Demonstrating a zero-compromise attitude towards health, safety, and wellbeing in all aspects of work.
- Customer Service: Ensuring excellent customer service.
- Team Collaboration: Working to benefit other team members with skills from the product training.
- Qualifications: HNC, C&G, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering.
- Electrical Qualification: Electrical qualification is an advantage but not essential.
- Work Experience: Proven working 'hands-on' experience working with internal combustion engines and associated systems.
- Natural / Bio / AD Gas Engine Experience: Natural / Bio / AD Gas engine, CHP, and gas system experience desirable but not essential.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Driving License: Full UK driving licence.
- Knowledge of Internal Combustion Engines: In-depth knowledge of all aspects of the operation and maintenance of internal combustion engines.
- Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Ability to carry out thorough, comprehensive, and methodical diagnostics on engine, generator, and associated systems.
- Asset Optimization: Ability to operate and optimize assets using engine/generator controls, such as ComAp, and DIA.NE and TEM Evo.
- Quality and Teamwork: Competent to work to a high level of quality, alone or as part of a team.
- Competitive Salary: Competitive salary offering up to £54,000 per annum depending on your level of experience.
- Holidays and Leave: 24 days holiday per year increasing to 28 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
