About the Role:

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide tailored support to a child with an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). The successful candidate will work closely with the child to ensure they can access the curriculum and thrive in a mainstream classroom setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with specific SEND requirements as outlined in their EHCP.
  • Assist in the implementation of personalised learning plans, behaviour management strategies, and any therapies or interventions required.
  • Support the child in developing social, emotional, and communication skills, fostering a positive learning environment.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to adapt lessons and resources to meet the child's learning needs.
  • Monitor and report on the child's progress, maintaining accurate records and contributing to regular reviews.
  • Liaise with parents/carers, SENCO, and external agencies to ensure consistent support and effective communication.
  • Promote inclusion and encourage the child's participation in all aspects of school life.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEND, particularly in a 1:1 setting, is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of various SEND conditions, such as autism, ADHD, or learning difficulties, and the strategies to support these.
  • Patience, empathy, and a strong commitment to the child's well-being and development.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and external professionals.
  • Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or SEND support are advantageous.
