Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Officer to join our team at the Office for Environmental Protection. As a Finance Officer, you will be responsible for providing financial support to our organization, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, and contributing to the development of our financial strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the finance mailbox, responding to queries and resolving issues in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Raise purchase orders in our finance system, ensuring compliance with our finance policies.
  • Invoice management, including liaison with suppliers, resolving payment queries, and preparing weekly payment runs.
  • Manage supplier statements and reconciliation, liaising with suppliers as needed to resolve issues.
  • Communicate with internal teams and external stakeholders, building and maintaining good working relationships for the Finance team.
  • Gather information for monthly accruals and prepayments schedules, adhering to our finance month-end closing timetable.
  • Assist the Management Accountant in preparing monthly bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations, adhering to our finance month-end closing timetable.
  • Monitor staff expenses, ensuring compliance with our finance policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in accounts payable, knowledge of accounts payable processes, and attention to detail.
  • AAT book-keeping qualification or other similar qualification, or proven practical experience of book-keeping.
  • Experience of using accountancy systems and Excel, including the ability to use formula.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work at pace, prioritize, and organize effectively, ensuring work is completed to a high standard and accuracy.
  • Adaptable and able to work flexibly across a range of activities with competing deadlines.
