Mortuary Manager

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mortuary Manager to lead our Regional Mortuary Service in BCUHB. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the management and supervision of our mortuary and bereavement services, ensuring the highest standards of care and dignity for our patients and their families.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the Regional Mortuary Service, overseeing the management and supervision of mortuary and bereavement staff.
- Develop and implement strategic and operational pathways for the service, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including police, coroner, and medical staff, to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Manage budgets and finances, ensuring efficient use of resources and compliance with financial regulations.
- Develop and maintain departmental policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Master's degree in a recognized specialty or equivalent experience and qualifications.
- Significant experience working as a qualified APT, with evidence of effective team working and a positive approach to work.
- Experience in training junior APTs and support staff, teaching others in mortuary operations.
- Experience in conducting audits, formulating risk assessments/SOPs, and investigating incidents.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening, negotiation, assertiveness, and decision-making.
- Good level of IT skills, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Membership of the Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists.
- UK DVI Membership.
- Eye/Corneal Retrieval Training.
- Knowledge of Best Practice set out by the AAPT.
- European Computer Driving Licence.
