Position Overview

The Nursery Room Leader will play a vital role in our 'outstanding' nursery, catering to children aged 0-5 years. Our expansive setting comprises four distinct rooms, and we pride ourselves on our strong partnerships with families. We are seeking a dedicated professional with relevant experience and a passion for early childhood education to join our nursery team. This is a full-time position focused on leading a room and supporting the development of children aged 3-5 years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality early years provision in line with the EYFS framework, prioritizing safeguarding.
  • Lead and supervise team members, fostering collaboration to meet objectives and contributing to staff appraisals.
  • Guide the induction process for new staff, students, and agency workers, ensuring they understand basic procedures.
  • Demonstrate new techniques and processes to team members following professional development activities.
  • Provide responsive support to parents and colleagues, addressing queries and facilitating bookings for activities.
  • Record and report on children's development accurately, collaborating with team members and senior staff.
  • Manage bookings and inquiries, resolving issues or escalating them as necessary.
  • Liaise with external agencies regarding children's development and progress.
  • Implement professional and regulatory procedures, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies.
  • Act as a key holder, responsible for opening and closing the nursery in accordance with established policies.
  • Contribute to OFSTED inspections, demonstrating an understanding of relevant requirements.
  • Safeguard children by adhering to policies and procedures at all times.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • NNEB or CACHE/NVQ Level 3 qualification in Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge and experience of the EYFS framework for children aged 0-5 years.
  • Experience working with children aged 0-5 years.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficient digital skills, including experience with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in the early years sector.
  • Relevant administrative experience in a busy environment.
  • Ability to provide guidance and support to a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience supervising a team.
