About the Role

Kleboe Jardine Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Optomechanical Engineer to join our team. As an Optomechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing innovative optomechanical assemblies that meet the company's high standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop optomechanical products that meet customer requirements and company specifications.
  • Initiate, manage, and participate in internal and customer-facing projects to develop new optomechanical products.
  • Engage with the supply chain to ensure timely delivery of components and materials.
  • Collaborate with customers and project partners to understand integration requirements and develop solutions.
  • Develop designs for optomechanical assemblies incorporating state-of-the-art freeform optical elements.
  • Develop alignment procedures and test regimes to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Support product manufacturing from prototype phase to production rollout.
  • Provide technical support to the production line for optical assemblies.
  • Identify new equipment and processes required to improve manufacturing and metrology capability for optical assemblies.
  • Drive design for manufacture to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.
  • Provide technical support to key quality assurance gates in the product release process.
  • Capture documentation to support consistent product execution.

Requirements

  • Essential requirements:
  • Experience with optics mounting or optomechanical systems.
  • 4+ years of experience in industry, with the ability to operate semi-autonomously at a senior engineer level.
  • Experience with thermal and stress calculations modeling, ideally for optomechanical or laser systems.
  • Experience in full project lifecycle from concept to prototype to production.
  • Confident user of Autodesk Inventor CAD software.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with Autodesk Vault document management tool or similar.
  • COMSOL skills.

Qualifications

BSc/MSc/Ph.D. in Mechanical engineering, Optics, Photonic & Optical Engineering, Physics, or other related subject areas.
