About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Pastoral Support Assistant. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children within our diverse and welcoming community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor attendance and implement policies to improve attendance
  • Act as a point of contact for pupils requiring support and liaise with external agencies as needed
  • Support students struggling with transition and friendship issues
  • Provide support during non-contact times, including play, friendships/social interactions, and resolving issues
  • Attend meetings and training as required
  • Support at information evenings, open evenings, and other school events
  • Keep up-to-date with possible sources of support for children and young people via networking and CPD
  • Maintain confidential pupil case records
  • Supervise uncollected children at the end of the day and make relevant calls to parents
  • Maintain and display up-to-date pastoral information boards
  • Administer first aid to students
  • Accompany safeguarding team members on home visits as required
Working with Colleagues and Other Professionals
  • Communicate effectively with staff members, pupils, parents, and carers under the direction of the deputy headteacher and senior pastoral team

Health and Safety
  • Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils and help safeguard their wellbeing by following the requirements of Keeping Children Safe in Education and our school's child protection policy
  • Look after children who are upset or have had accidents
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs, including social, welfare, and health matters
  • Be willing to be first aid trained and assist staff in dealing with medical conditions or first aid for students

  • Help keep their own knowledge and understanding relevant and up-to-date by reflecting on their practice, liaising with school leaders, and identifying relevant professional development to improve personal effectiveness
  • Take opportunities to build the appropriate skills, qualifications, and/or experience needed for the role, with support from the school
