Position Title: Housing Assistance Coordinator Brent

Reporting Structure: Housing Support Service Lead

Staff Oversight: N/A

Compensation: £25,000 PA

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm or 10am to 6pm)

Please be aware that this role involves fieldwork - you will be required to assist our clients in their residences.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Personal Housing Plans and Risk Assessments.
  • Assist clients in achieving their objectives as outlined in their Personal Housing Plans.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify their housing and support requirements, along with their aspirations, strengths, and capabilities, to enhance their independence.
  • Provide guidance and support to vulnerable individuals to help them manage their tenancies effectively.
  • Support clients in reporting maintenance issues.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to facilitate the implementation of their Personal Housing Plans and address their support needs.
  • Perform routine reviews of risk assessments and support plans.
  • Offer assistance with budgeting, maximizing income, minimizing expenses, managing debt, rent arrears, and welfare benefits, including Housing Benefit.
  • Engage with various agencies to promote health and well-being, including harm reduction strategies to mitigate the effects of risky behaviors such as substance misuse.
  • Address any incidents of anti-social behavior in collaboration with Local Authorities and external partners, adhering to Caridon Foundation policies and procedures.
  • Direct clients to specialized organizations as needed.
  • Coordinate with colleagues and other stakeholders in cases of tenancy issues.
  • Maintain accurate internal digital records (Nourish/Arthur/Company Share drive) and ensure timely updates.
  • Document and report safeguarding concerns in accordance with Caridon Foundation's policies and procedures.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings to advocate for the needs of clients or the Caridon Foundation.
  • Refer clients to Resettlement Housing Officers and Local Authorities in instances of tenancy challenges.
  • Work with clients to develop a feasible moving plan that aligns with their housing needs.
  • Conduct regular visits to ensure ongoing support for tenants.
  • Perform weekly property inspections and monthly health and safety evaluations of assigned units.
  • Provide monthly statistical reports.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data protection compliance in accordance with the Data Protection Act and General Data Protection Regulation.
  • Provide coverage for other team members as necessary.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required by the service.

Communication Duties:

  • Contribute to the Group Newsletter.
  • Gather case studies, photographs, and field information for Public Relations purposes.

Candidate Profile:

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years' experience in support work or a related field.
  • Proven ability to establish nonjudgmental professional relationships with vulnerable clients, including those with mental health challenges or substance misuse issues.
  • Experience working with individuals who have faced homelessness.
  • Strong communication skills with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and pursue training opportunities.
  • Capability to collaborate positively with other agencies.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations, including basic first aid, food hygiene, and infection control.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in computer applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and Internet).
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Exceptional communication abilities.
  • Capacity to show initiative and perform well under pressure.
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a team.
  • Act as a role model within the team, sharing knowledge and experience while valuing the contributions of others.
  • Full UK driving license is desirable.
