About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Social Worker to join our team as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP). The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance to AMHPs, contributing to the development of practice standards, and ensuring compliance with the statutory functions imposed upon the Local Authority by the Mental Health Act.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide supervision, specialist advice, and professional expertise for AMHPs
  • Accountable for assessments undertaken under the Mental Health Act
  • Work within the statutory legal framework, policy, and guidance
  • Manage a complex workload, maintaining accurate and timely data, reports, and presentations
  • Carry out, coordinate, and manage the process of Mental Health Act assessments
  • Build strong effective working relationships across the Council, with partners, and members of voluntary agencies
About You

To be successful in this role, you will need to be a qualified social worker with current Social Work England registration and an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) as recognized by Essex County Council. You will bring significant experience, modeling good practice, and providing advice and guidance in complex situations. You will also have the ability to mentor both newly qualified and experienced team members.
