Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement of construction materials, equipment, and subcontract services utilizing the SUMMIT system.
  • Support the Midland Metro Alliance Estimating team.
  • Ongoing development and management of supplier relationships in collaboration with the Procurement Team.
  • Organize and manage daily workload effectively.
  • Provide data reporting as requested by the Procurement Manager.
  • Ensure accurate target cost data is obtained and utilized, conducting cost analysis on orders exceeding £1k while updating necessary documentation.
  • Negotiate goods/services within the Target Cost budget.
  • Identify and report any procurement-related risks and opportunities at the Program or Project level using the ARM Risk Software system.
  • Act as a professional and ethical representative of the MMA Procurement Team.
  • Establish appropriate payment terms with both new and existing supply chain partners.
  • Participate in the bid proposal process as needed.
  • Draft and prepare contract documentation using standard templates in collaboration with the legal team to ensure compliance.
  • Serve as a point of contact for project and supplier inquiries regarding contracts and supplies.
  • Drive and lead procurement strategies to influence project decisions throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Effectively communicate project requirements to the supply chain through various channels.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders at all levels to understand internal and external needs.
  • Support the supplier selection process, ensuring comprehensive coverage and addressing any vulnerabilities.
  • Contribute to the development of the Midland Metro Alliance Procurement Strategy and monitor the supply chain to maintain strong relationships and ethical collaboration.
  • Lead or support procurement efforts for bids/tenders, contributing to meetings and coordination efforts.
  • Focus on Continuous Improvement to ensure suppliers meet project requirements for delivery, cost, and quality.
  • Attend project meetings and progress reviews as required by project teams.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of three years of experience in the Construction/Civil Engineering sector.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Demonstrated commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Attention to detail regarding contractual obligations and order placements.
Qualifications
- Evidence of a solid educational background, including English and Maths GCSE at grade A-C or equivalent.
- CIPS or equivalent qualification is desirable, including 'working towards' status.
- Industry-related qualifications are advantageous, which may include:
  • Trade-related qualifications
  • Other professional qualifications
  • ONC/HNC/HND/Degree

- Proficient in Microsoft Office and IT literate.
- Strong interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with personnel at all levels.
- A full UK driving license is desirable as site travel may be necessary.
