About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grounds Maintenance Chargehand to join our team at Sanctuary Group. As a Grounds Maintenance Chargehand, you will be responsible for the maintenance of communal grounds, including grass cutting, trimming hedges, and weeding flower beds.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervisory support to the wider team to ensure the grounds are well maintained and clean.
  • Use equipment and materials in a safe manner, as instructed, and in accordance with risk assessment and manufacturer's guidance.
  • Carry out hazardous tasks, such as spraying, in accordance with supplier guidelines, ensuring relevant records are maintained to comply with health and safety and legal requirements.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good condition and continue to be suitable for required tasks.
  • Respond positively to complaints and breakdowns in service delivery to meet customer expectations.

Requirements

  • A pesticide application certificate (PA1 – PA6) or equivalent.
  • NVQ3 or equivalent in Horticulture or similar discipline is desirable.
  • Recent experience of working within a similar role where operating gardening machinery is essential.
  • Some experience of supervising others.
  • This role will involve driving on company business. In order to drive a company vehicle, drivers must hold a full valid UK driving licence.
