About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Specialist Study Skills Support Worker to join our team at Randstad. As a Specialist Study Skills Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing learning support and academic guidance to students with specific learning difficulties (SpLDs) studying at universities and colleges in South London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one study skills support to students with SpLDs, helping them to develop independence, build on their strengths and learning strategies, and create strategies for organisation and time management.
  • Work with students to create individual learning plans that cater to their unique needs and encourage them to become independent learners.
  • Support students in developing their research skills, including finding and using a variety of sources, distinguishing between appropriate and inappropriate sources, and correctly using references.
  • Help students to build their comprehension skills in reading and writing, and provide guidance on how to improve their understanding of complex texts.
  • Work in a hybrid role, providing both in-person and online sessions to meet student preferences.
Requirements
  • Hold membership with one of the following professional bodies: British Dyslexia Association (BDA), Professional Membership The Association of Dyslexia (ADSHE), Dyslexia Guild, or The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS).
  • Have experience working with clients with specific learning difficulties.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to identify ways of helping students build on their learning strengths while maintaining a confidential and professional working relationship.
  • Be punctual, reliable, and have good organisational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload of students.
