About the Role

Madisons Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Design Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. As a key member of the construction contractor's design team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality design solutions for cladding, facades, and roofing projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design Delivery: Ensure all construction drawings and designs are produced on time, to a high-quality standard, and meet the client's expectations.
  • Design Management: Manage the development and implementation of design proposals, adhering to budget constraints and maintaining developed designs as financially viable.
  • Client Communication: Present proposals for approval to the client and maintain thorough documentation of the design and development process.
  • Technical Expertise: Oversee the design process using technical expertise, ensuring compliance with ISO9001 and up-to-date knowledge of changing building legislation and codes of practice.
  • Project Coordination: Coordinate the submission of information to satisfy building control compliance and lead the coordination and production of design data, bid deliverables, reports, and documentation essential to the project and contractual requirements.
  • Design Oversight: Oversee the design of multiple projects throughout the contract period, reviewing and understanding architectural design intent documentation to develop acceptable construction solutions.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate subcontractor drawings from various trades to ascertain any conflicts and produce a cohesive overall design, and provide design & technical support to all departments throughout the design and construction phase.
  • Reporting: Prepare full site reports from site surveys on progress, quality, and compliance, and stay up to date with industry trends.
Requirements
  • Experience: Hard metal Roofing and Cladding Design Experience of 5+ years, preferably with a strong track record of ensuring quality design information is provided in accordance with project requirements.
  • Skills: High-level competency with AutoCAD and BIM, knowledge of approved document part B and NHBC conditions, and a good grasp of core construction ideas/principles.
  • Education: Construction/design-related further education or HNC/HND/Degree advantageous.
  • Personal Qualities: Excellent organisational skills, ability to work to tight deadlines, provide high levels of customer care, and build and maintain internal and external relationships.
