Key Responsibilities:

  • Support plant leadership in meeting business and financial objectives by developing and sustaining effective manufacturing processes while spearheading continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives across the organization.
  • Collaborate with the team to establish and uphold efficient, cost-effective manufacturing processes and product structures aligned with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Conduct root cause and failure analyses as necessary.
  • Lead cost-reduction initiatives and foster a culture of ongoing improvement.
  • Utilize lean manufacturing techniques to eliminate waste and meet customer expectations.
  • Implement strategies to minimize variation in processes.
  • Enhance team capabilities to identify sources of variation through Six Sigma Design and Development methodologies.
  • Engage in concurrent engineering and critical design reviews to optimize product development costs and extend product lifespan.
  • Execute Design For Manufacturing and Value Engineering initiatives as applicable.
  • Create work breakdown structures to assist in developing cost estimates.
  • Participate in new product development projects, utilizing ProLaunch to define deliverables and commit to timelines.
  • Coordinate manufacturing liaisons for products from conception to customer delivery.
  • Innovate and integrate new processes and methodologies to provide competitive advantages for the business.
  • Recommend Capital Appropriation Requests, including payback and net present value analyses, for acquiring equipment to support both emerging and existing technologies.
  • Oversee the training of associates in line with APEX and OCA expectations.
  • Communicate the organization’s vision through effective verbal communication and actions.
  • Collaborate with various functions to prepare consolidated plant, customer, and product status information along with action plans.
  • Develop, implement, and audit complex process procedures and work instructions, both in-house and within the supplier base, to resolve production and quality issues and achieve overall business objectives.
  • Ensure robust plans are established and monitored to meet functional KPIs.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant Engineering Degree or equivalent experience.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong understanding of engineering design and product reliability concepts, facilitating analysis in fluid dynamics, thermal dynamics, and electronic circuits.
  • In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques, including value stream mapping and one-piece flow.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma concepts and tools, particularly in minimizing process and product variability.
  • Comprehensive understanding of problem-solving methodologies for root cause determination and corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in various software applications, including Computer Aided Design, Computer Aided Manufacturing, and MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific quality processes such as ISO9001 and AS9100.
  • Awareness of product specifications and testing requirements.
  • Understanding of manufacturing principles and technical specifications relevant to facilities competencies.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional process improvement teams.
  • Experience in customer and supplier interfacing, including presentations and negotiations.
