Job Overview

We are thrilled to announce a remarkable opportunity for a qualified Senior Bioinformatics Manager to lead the operational functions of our specialized Cancer or Constitutional Bioinformatics teams. This position entails managing daily operations and software development in a full-time capacity, allowing for flexible working hours.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties for this position include:

Overseeing daily operations and software development for the bioinformatics team Leading a team of bioinformaticians Collaborating with both external and internal stakeholders to innovate new services and tests utilizing cutting-edge genomic technologies Promoting and disseminating research and development initiatives on both national and international platforms

This is an exciting phase for our service as we enhance our genomic analysis capabilities. Our laboratory employs a diverse array of Next Generation Sequencing technologies and has recently introduced pioneering services for genomic analysis in the realms of rare diseases and cancer.

The successful applicant will be instrumental in advancing our bioinformatics capabilities, ensuring streamlined operations, and contributing to groundbreaking genomic research and clinical applications.

Qualifications

Essential

An Honours degree in computer science, health informatics, or a relevant biological discipline with demonstrated informatics or computing expertise. A Master’s degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.

Experience

Essential

Development and implementation of bioinformatics tools and resources Analysis and interpretation of genomic data in a clinical context for diagnosing inherited diseases. Software development experience in languages pertinent to bioinformatics (e.g., Python, R, etc.)

Desirable

Publication of peer-reviewed articles related to human genomics
