About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Practice Nurse to join our team at the Ministry of Defence (Defence Medical Services). As a key member of our primary healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide safe and effective patient care, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with complex health needs.
  • Manage chronic illnesses, such as asthma, diabetes, and hypertension, and ensure continued maintenance of the Chronic Disease Register.
  • Undertake technical nursing treatments and procedures, including wound care, sutures removal, and ear care.
  • Coordinate the development of plans to meet the health needs of patients, including diagnostic tests and treatment plans.
  • Support the development and delivery of specialist services, such as long-term disease management and health promotion.
Requirements
  • Professional and specialist knowledge in primary healthcare, acquired through postgraduate degree or diploma, or equivalent level of competence and experience.
  • Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training.
  • Quality improvement methodology or willingness to undertake training.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS), Anaphylaxis, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), and Safeguarding training.
  • Level 3 (Children and Adult) or willingness to undertake training.
  • Registered non-medical prescriber or willingness to undertake training.
