About the Role

Vetro Recruitment is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Refuge Support Worker to join our team in the Cardiff area. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to women and children who have experienced domestic abuse.

Key Responsibilities
  • Case Management: Identify and assess the risks and needs of service users, prioritizing cases and providing a proactive, short to medium term crisis intervention service through individual safety, support and recovery planning.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for service users with agencies who can help to address the domestic abuse, ensuring all women and children are supported through their journey.
  • Support Services: Deliver specialist support services to women and children who are accessing accommodation services, including initial and on-going needs assessments, risk assessments, safety plans and support plans.
  • Collaboration: Work with a caseload of diverse risk and need, ensuring all women and children are supported through their journey, and collaborate with external agencies to provide a comprehensive service.
  • Empowerment: Support women and children to regain control of their lives, understand the features and dynamics of domestic abuse, and empower them to make informed decisions about their future.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Hold a SafeLives IDVA training certificate, or a relevant degree, or demonstrable equivalent experience or a vocational qualification.
  • Driving Licence: Possess a driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
  • Experience: Have an understanding of domestic violence and abuse, including the impact on victims and their children, and experience in engaging with external agencies.
  • Skills: Possess strong crisis management skills, excellent IT and communication skills, and the ability to provide practical and emotional support.
