Position: Marine Systems Engineer

Type: Permanent

As a key member of Finning International, you will be responsible for addressing customer requests related to marine repairs and services.

Your primary duties will include executing maintenance, overhauls, troubleshooting, repairs, testing, and commissioning of Caterpillar and MaK engines, systems, and packages installed on various vessels.

Working within Finning's Marine field service division, you will play a crucial role in delivering on-site diagnostic and repair solutions for Caterpillar products.

Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Identifying necessary parts for repairs and managing requisitions while determining expected delivery times to coordinate service revisit schedules with customers.
  • Conducting repair and service tasks according to the established work plan, including the removal and dispatch of components for specialized attention and the reinstallation of original or replacement parts to meet required standards.
Key Qualifications:
  • Practical experience in safety, health, environment, and quality (SHEQ) processes and procedures.
  • Hands-on expertise in operating, maintaining, overhauling, repairing, testing, and commissioning medium and high-speed marine engines, specifically CAT engines and systems.
  • Proficiency with electronic (DC), mechanical, and electrical (AC) systems.
  • Experience in utilizing engineering diagnostic software and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams and mechanical schematics.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, capable of working under pressure and meeting tight deadlines.
  • Adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • High-quality troubleshooting and diagnostic results.
  • Excellence in maintenance, overhaul, repair, testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical reports.
  • Strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Knowledge of field-based diagnostic tools and equipment.
  • Understanding of medium and high-speed marine engines, systems, and packages.
  • Solid foundation in electronic, mechanical, and electrical engineering principles.
  • Completion of formal apprenticeship training (NVQ Level 3) as a qualified engineer.
