About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Electromyography Assistant to join our team at Kootenay Lake Regional Hospital in Nelson, BC. As an Electromyography Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our medical team in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with EMG testing under the supervision of a physician, ensuring accurate and efficient procedures.
  • Perform related clerical duties, including answering phones, filing, typing, and booking appointments.
  • Utilize the computerized information system (e.g. Meditech) for entering and obtaining patient and related information.
  • Prioritize EMG requests and workload demands for patient appointment bookings in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment, including cleaning and reporting any issues to the Professional Practice Leader.
  • Maintain established inventory levels for required supplies by completing purchasing and stores requisitions.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement activities, providing input and feedback to the Professional Practice Leader on work procedures and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist with orienting new staff, demonstrating work procedures and equipment usage.
  • Report and document any unusual occurrences following established procedures.
  • Participate in safety in-service programs and maintain a safe environment for patients, families, and staff.
