Empowering Young Lives through Kinship & Fostering

Our 'OUTSTANDING' Children's Services are seeking a dedicated Child Welfare Specialist with substantial experience in social work to enhance our Countywide Kinship and Fostering team. We are committed to our workforce and take pride in providing social workers and support staff with diverse training opportunities, including participation in peer reflection groups and collaborative projects across various Children's Services.

Kinship care is a specialized segment within our broader framework, focusing on the support of special guardians, connected person foster care, and private fostering arrangements. In this role, you will be part of a passionate team of professionals dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of children in need of care.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assessing applicants for foster care, special guardianship, and connected persons.
  • Providing support to these individuals and families.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and other services to enhance placement quality and stability.
  • Utilizing a trauma-informed approach to support caregivers effectively.

We expect candidates to possess prior experience in Children's Services, particularly in Kinship or Fostering, along with expertise in conducting complex assessments and a robust background in safeguarding practices. A proven record of professional and personal development is also highly desirable.

Additionally, you will have the option to participate in our 'out-of-hours' phone support as part of the compensated rota.

This position includes a 10% market supplement payment, which is subject to annual review.
