Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil/Structural Inspection Engineer and Team Leader to join our team at TÜV Rheinland. As a key member of our inspection team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing civil and structural inspection opportunities for new and existing clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement civil and structural inspection opportunities for new and existing clients
  • Develop client requirements for ongoing inspections
  • Prepare proposals for inspections, including scope and estimated costs
  • Draft and review Written Schemes of Examination (WSE)
  • Identify plant preparation requirements from the WSE
  • Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for plant inspections
  • Examine civil and structural assets in accordance with the WSE and TÜV procedures
  • Prepare clear written reports, supported by photographs, in compliance with TÜV procedures
  • Assess deterioration and identify any mandatory actions or recommendations
  • Endorse reports, indicating recommended next inspection date(s) and any mandatory actions or recommendations
  • Issue reports in electronic and/or hard copy formats, to suit client requirements
Requirements
  • HNC/Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Incorporated Engineer status (desirable but not essential)
  • Civil and Structural Engineering background
  • Understanding of Civil and Structural Engineering principles
  • Ability to identify defects and remedial work solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Use of IT and software, including Microsoft Word, inspection reporting platform, photographs, and email
  • Eye for detail
  • Ability to accurately follow procedures
  • Courage to make (and defend) difficult decisions
  • Good interpersonal skills, and the capability to work independently
  • Ambition to learn and progress
  • Experience of chemical and/or oil & gas industry (desirable)
  • Current UK driving licence
