Clinical Pharmacy Specialist

An exciting position has become available for a motivated Senior Pharmacist with vision and leadership qualities to join our team, focusing on critical care and formulary management.
The ideal candidate will be a driven and experienced professional possessing teaching and clinical expertise. Strong interpersonal, leadership, and managerial skills are essential. A postgraduate qualification in clinical pharmacy or its equivalent, along with hospital pharmacy experience in critical care, is required.
Main Responsibilities- Oversee, implement, and evaluate the pharmacy critical care service within the organization, collaborating with the multidisciplinary team.
- Develop and sustain the web-based hospital formulary in partnership with the Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Information.
- Provide training in critical care competencies to clinical staff.
- Act as a mentor for trainee pharmacists and diploma candidates as requested by the Education and Training Lead.
- Coordinate and assist in the creation and review of pharmacy information bulletins.
- Deliver a highly specialized service to critical care, ensuring mechanisms are in place to promote high-quality medication use, effective risk management, patient safety initiatives, and compliance with organizational policies and guidelines.
- Offer guidance in this domain, manage the drug budget, and lead, develop, and assess the clinical pharmacy service provided to this specialty.
- Maintain a regular ward pharmacy presence and contribute to the advancement of clinical pharmacy services, including training and implementation of relevant policies and risk management strategies.
- Support clinical pharmacy services, dispensary operations, production, and medicines management programs as needed.
- Initiate and contribute to relevant practice research or audit projects within the pharmacy and disseminate the findings as appropriate.
- Registered with GPhC and MRPharmS or equivalent
- Completion of a postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy/Pharmacy Practice or equivalent
- Mandatory Continuing Professional Development to maintain fitness to practice
- Independent Non-Medical Prescribing qualification
- Membership in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
- Experience in Critical Care
- Ability to manage and supervise staff effectively
- Leading and implementing organizational change
- Ability to engage directly with the public, senior clinicians, and other healthcare and pharmaceutical industry personnel
- Experience in managing or advising on pharmaceutical expenditures
- Understanding of formulary management and clinical trial considerations
- Knowledge of risk management processes related to medication usage
- Project management experience
- Ability to critically evaluate services and processes
- Effective organizational and prioritization skills in a professional setting
- Capability to work independently and autonomously
- Integrate research evidence into clinical practice
- Identify training needs for staff to fulfill required roles
- Utilization of medical databases for information retrieval
- Experience with formulary management
- Conducting literature evaluations

- Strong verbal and written communication skills across all disciplines, along with effective presentation abilities
- Demonstrated clinical knowledge and application, particularly in complex therapeutic scenarios

- Leadership capabilities in service delivery
- Ability to motivate and influence senior pharmacy and medical staff, multidisciplinary teams, and management
