About the Role

Climax Studios is seeking an experienced Technical Director to join our team in Edinburgh. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the technical direction and strategy of our game development projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical guidance and oversight to our engineering team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality game development projects.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing coaching, mentoring, and career development opportunities.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and success of our programming team, identifying and addressing technical issues that may impact project goals.
  • Technical Research: Conduct research and propose solutions to improve the technical expertise of our studio and the Climax code teams.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other discipline directors to provide a clear vision for our games and communicate that vision to the engineering team.
Requirements
  • Extensive Game Development Experience: Proven experience in game development, with a strong background in engineering and technical leadership roles.
  • Advanced Programming Skills: Excellent C++ programming skills and a thorough knowledge of software design practices.
  • Unreal Experience: Extensive experience with Unreal Engine.
  • Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and get the best out of your teams.
  • Production Experience: A solid background in the production of AAA games, with experience shipping console and PC games.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with good client-facing skills.
  • Time Management: Strong time management and organizational skills, with an enthusiastic team player attitude.
