About the Role

The University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly experienced and skilled individual to fill the position of Group Director of Nursing. This is a senior leadership role that requires a strong background in nursing and a proven track record of success in a similar position.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide senior strategic nursing leadership to develop and deliver a high-quality, cost-effective nursing service for patients.
  • Support the Chief Nursing Officer in leading the development of the nursing, midwifery, allied health professionals, and healthcare scientist agendas within the Trust.
  • Provide senior professional leadership to all registered nurses and healthcare support workers within the Care Group.
  • Develop the clinical leadership capability of nursing and the wider non-medical clinical workforce.
  • Lead local projects to promote and develop nursing at the Trust.
  • Be responsible for aspects of clinical governance, patient quality and safety, and improving the patient experience.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with a First degree diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience working within the acute sector of the NHS at a senior nurse level.
  • A Masters level qualification in nursing, a postgraduate qualification, or equivalent.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Senior Leadership Training programme.
  • Previous strategic experience.
Personal Attributes
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills with good listening skills.
  • High level of work organisation, self-motivation, drive for performance and improvement, and flexibility in approach and attitude.
