Barnardo's is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Residential Support Worker to join our team in a new Short Breaks Service. As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and challenging behavior.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build trust and develop nurturing relationships with service users to promote their independence, wellbeing, strengths, and capabilities.
  • Work in partnership with parents/carers and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for service users.
  • Contribute to the upkeep of the home, including cooking, cleaning, and maintaining a safe environment.
  • Document information accurately and ensure records are kept up to date.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.

Requirements:

  • Hold the Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or be willing to successfully achieve this within the required timeframe.
  • Be motivated by the opportunity to make a positive difference in young people's lives and create a safe space for them to thrive.
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of safeguarding and protection of vulnerable children and young people.
  • Be flexible to commit to sleep-ins and shift work, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Relevant experience working with children and young people is desirable, but not essential with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
