Job Title: Legal Counsel

Calastone is seeking a highly skilled Legal Counsel to join our team. As a key member of our management team, you will play a critical role in shaping the company's legal strategy and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contract Review and Compliance: Conduct thorough reviews of incoming contracts to identify potential legal issues, risks, and obligations. Provide guidance and recommendations to internal teams regarding contract terms, amendments, and negotiation strategies with prospects and existing customers.
  • Legal Advice: Provide proactive legal advice and assistance on a broad range of legal matters impacting the company's operations, including regulatory compliance, data protection, intellectual property, and employment law.
  • Dispute Resolution and Risk Management: Manage legal disputes and claims, including coordinating with external counsel as necessary. Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate legal risks associated with business activities and transactions.
Requirements:
  • Qualified solicitor in the UK, with a minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience, preferably gained within a reputable law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Strong knowledge of UK and EU laws and regulations, including financial services regulations (FSMA and GDPR).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to analyse legal issues pragmatically and provide strategic advice aligned with business objectives.
