Principal Systems Architect

The Infrastructure Engineering team at Tesco Technology is responsible for designing, developing, and operating all infrastructure used across our data centres, offices, stores, and distribution centres. This includes private and public cloud, connectivity, end-user computing, CI/CD, and monitoring toolkit.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical leadership in the design, development, and deployment of infrastructure systems, working with product teams to make key decisions on technology selection, system design, and implementation strategies.
- Identify key competencies required for systems engineering in Infrastructure and develop a plan to address any gaps.
- Mentor junior engineers and architects, providing guidance, feedback, and support to help them grow in their roles.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and empowerment between architects and other teams, including product, engineering, and broader technology teams.
- Develop high levels of emotional intelligence and use empathy skills to influence positively the outcomes of all interactions.
- Coach colleagues from all disciplines to have a product mindset, enabling them to make value-centric decisions.
- Understand the procurement process and effectively apply knowledge in planning and influencing product roadmaps.
- Contribute to or run RFP processes.
