The successful candidates will deliver specialized care for High-Risk Obstetric patients, participate in the on-call schedule, and help us adhere to the guidelines set forth in various healthcare reports.

They will also assist in achieving waiting time targets in accordance with best practices for both cancer and benign gynaecological conditions.

We offer significant flexibility in tailoring job responsibilities to suit the right individuals. While all positions are for Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, each successful applicant will have specific areas of expertise that align with the department's needs.

  • Senior Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a focus on Fetal Medicine and Obstetric Imaging
  • Senior Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with a specialization in Surgical Gynaecology and Gynaecological Oncology
  • Senior Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with expertise in Urogynaecology and Pelvic Floor Rehabilitation

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with midwifery staff to ensure the delivery of safe, evidence-based Obstetric care. Conduct regular assessments of complex cases and manage patient care effectively.

Provide high-quality gynaecological services in both emergency and scheduled care environments, and work towards the enhancement of these services as necessary.

Job Structure

Weekly Schedule / Job Plan

The current on-call rota is 1:8, subject to change as new consultant roles are filled. Additional Programmed Activities (PAs) may be available for extended hours and weekend duties.

Total Programmed Activities: 10 PAs

Direct Clinical Care (DCC): PAs per week (averaged over 16 weeks)

Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs): PAs per week

On-Call Duties

Please note that the agreed responsibilities regarding SPAs and additional duties will be reviewed after a six-month period, with an expectation for SPAs to decrease and DCC to increase accordingly. Part-time consultants will need to allocate a proportionately higher amount of time to SPAs, which will be determined on an individual basis.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration (with license to practice)
  • CESR
  • MRCOG or equivalent specialist qualification
  • Relevant CCT or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by PMETB/GMC prior to Advisory Appointments Committee)
  • Proven ability to instruct clinical skills within multidisciplinary teams using evidence-based knowledge.
