Logistics Operations Supervisor

About Gregory Distribution

We are currently in search of a Logistics Operations Supervisor to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in formulating and executing a detailed transport strategy that aligns with organizational goals, emphasizing cost-effectiveness, sustainability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee a team of around 30 personnel, including drivers and administrative staff.
  • Facilitate the coordination and management of all logistics activities, ensuring prompt deliveries and efficient route optimization.
  • Stay informed about industry regulations, transportation laws, and environmental standards to ensure compliance in all operations.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction while preserving service quality through ongoing analysis of transportation expenditures and the implementation of effective practices.
  • Help establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the logistics department, monitor metrics, and report performance to senior leadership.
  • Contribute to the development of risk management strategies to tackle transportation challenges and formulate contingency plans.
  • Evaluate and recommend logistics management systems and relevant technologies to improve processes and operational efficiency.
  • Support the introduction and management of sustainable logistics practices to reduce environmental impact.
  • Assist in leading and inspiring the logistics team, providing guidance, coaching, and fostering a positive work culture to achieve departmental objectives.
  • Participate in customer reviews and prepare necessary statistics for meetings.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports.
  • Assist in performing annual performance development reviews with direct reports.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong understanding of legal compliance, driver hours, and working time directives.
  • Proven track record of leading successful change initiatives.
  • Demonstrated management skills with the ability to make critical business decisions.
  • Ability to guide and motivate the team to achieve business results.
  • Strong presentation skills for engaging with senior stakeholders and external clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in IT, including MS Office, with strong analytical skills for reviewing data and reports.

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience in the logistics industry.
  • Proven background in customer relationship management.
  • Experience managing financial budgets and annual profit and loss responsibilities.
  • Possession of international or national CPC qualifications along with prior transport management experience (CPC training available for suitable candidates).
