Young Giants Tutoring is a comprehensive and inclusive educational service dedicated to providing support for children who are temporarily out of traditional schooling through personalized one-on-one tutoring and mentoring in their homes or community venues.

As a managed educational service rather than a tuition agency, we take full responsibility for the quality and management of the educational experiences we offer to our students. Established and operated by qualified educators, we collaborate closely with our tutors to assess and implement effective, tailored educational support programs. Our mission is to transform outcomes, enhance lives, and re-engage children and young people with their learning.

At Young Giants Tutoring, we foster a positive environment for both our students and staff, resulting in high tutor retention rates. Our team-oriented approach ensures that tutors feel secure and supported, while our learners feel valued and understood.

We are currently in search of experienced Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teachers or Tutors to assist learners in the Guildford region. We are particularly interested in practitioners who can travel to this area. Tutoring sessions are conducted in-person, one-on-one, during daytime hours in the learner's home or a community venue.

We prioritize candidates who can commit to a consistent timetable for at least an entire academic term, as our learners require stability and continuity in their educational support. We are unable to accommodate casual or ad-hoc hours.

Applicants must possess a solid understanding of providing educational support to young individuals with SEN, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. We take pride in offering innovative alternatives to traditional schooling and seek tutors and mentors who can think creatively about learning and are dedicated to going above and beyond for their students.

A travel contribution of £7 is provided for each visit to a learner's location.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Minimum Bachelor's Degree or substantial youth work experience/qualification
  • At least 2 years of experience teaching or mentoring learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in educational settings, youth groups, or private contexts
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update system or willingness to undergo a background check at a cost
  • Commitment to the holistic academic development of learners, including efforts to re-engage them in their education
  • Willingness to adhere to fixed termly schedules without interruptions due to external commitments
  • Ability to travel to the specified location
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding principles
