Job Overview

The Engineering Team Lead will play a crucial role in driving improvements to production efficiencies, maintenance, and improvement programs. This role will be responsible for implementing best practices, team development, personal development, and supporting the Engineering strategy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver robust Asset care through professional maintenance
  • Report near misses and ensure health and safety actions are closed out
  • Review downtime data and key priorities to focus engineering support
  • Conduct RCA on machinery failures and implement 100-year fixes
  • Review current PPMs and align with manufacturers' recommendations
  • Support and develop stores and spare parts/critical spares stock requirements for asset care and control booking out of spares
  • Improve, uphold, and sustain GMP and workshop standards versus target
  • Own tool box audits and lead shift handover meetings and shift reports
  • Plan and execute shutdown maintenance requirements and support weekend planning and attend weekend meetings
  • Deliver team briefs and business reports on a weekly/monthly basis and ensure time and attendance of engineers is upheld
  • Provide stand-in support for Area Engineering Manager where applicable and hands-on engineering breakdown support
  • Support the engineering budget through delivering cost-effective maintenance and ensure safe working of your team and others at all times
  • Ensure shifts are adequately manned at all times and support apprentice development
  • Legislative Compliance and Audit Compliance duties and create standard-setting manuals for all equipment available for all

Scope and KPIs

  • Recommended spares for each line availability
  • Engineer workload and development
  • PPM compliance
  • Use of integrated management system
  • Site downtime reduction as per target

Requirements

  • 18th edition
  • Experience of managing teams
  • Experience of working in a food factory environment would be advantageous
  • Fully complete apprenticeship is desirable, with packing experience
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Able to communicate and motivate others is an essential part of the role
  • Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive disposition, and a clear focus on meeting deadlines

Management Ability

The post holder must be able to work under pressure both as part of a team and on own initiative. Must also be able to communicate effectively to ensure the smooth running of the department. Must be able to make own decisions and liaise with other department colleagues and/or departments.
