What You Will Be Responsible For

In your role as a Lead Engineer within the Cisco Collaboration Technology Group, specifically in the Observability Platform division, you will collaborate with a dedicated team focused on developing a robust Observability platform. This platform serves a diverse range of public and private cloud environments, supporting Cisco's collaboration and security solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the architecture and functionality of the Observability platform to ensure alignment with both business objectives and technical specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with product engineering teams to customize observability solutions that cater to their specific requirements, ensuring smooth integration and peak performance.
  • Manage the service lifecycle from inception to deployment, which includes the design, construction, and maintenance of the platform.
  • Maintain high service uptime and quality while effectively managing the swift rollout of new features and updates.
  • Leverage industry-standard tools and methodologies to oversee distributed big data systems at scale, guaranteeing both efficiency and dependability.
  • Participate in daily stand-ups, weekly sprint evaluations, and engage in the on-call rotation to support an operational production environment.
  • Contribute to incident reviews and the strategic planning and design of new functionalities.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in computer science, information technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional background.
  • At least 5 years of experience in building, deploying, and troubleshooting containerized applications.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience with either the ELK stack (ElasticSearch, Logstash, Kibana) along with Kafka, or the Grafana stack (Grafana+Prometheus/Thanos/Cortex/Mimir).
  • At least 3 years of experience in preparing and delivering project proposals, including requirements gathering and solution design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Kubernetes in large-scale production environments.
  • Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, or similar configuration as code technologies.
  • Familiarity with Git version control systems.
  • Experience in cloud computing and working with major cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Knowledge of configuring and managing Unix-like operating systems.
  • Basic understanding of an interpreted programming language such as Python or Ruby.

Additional Skills:

  • Experience in network design and troubleshooting, including firewall, load balancer, and subnet configurations in cloud or data center environments.
  • Familiarity with PKI and certificate management.
  • Experience in configuring CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of secrets management using Hashicorp Vault.
