Everest People Solutions is seeking a Manufacturing Team Leader to join a dynamic organization. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing a specific production segment, ensuring that client orders are completed efficiently and economically while minimizing waste. Adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations is essential. This position also involves providing guidance and management to production staff. Although the size of teams, machinery, and product intricacies may differ, the fundamental duties of all Team Leader roles remain consistent.

Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Team Leader

  • Plan, monitor, and manage daily operations to optimize resource utilization and meet client order requirements while adhering to productivity and quality benchmarks.
  • Ensure production tasks utilize stock in a systematic manner, manage material consumption, assign labor to production lines, and finalize jobs upon completion. Report any issues to the Production Manager.
  • Develop and assess daily staff schedules, assign personnel to production lines for optimal skill distribution, and ensure adequate weekend staffing.
  • Delegate tasks to each line at the start of the shift and conduct initial assessments to guarantee smooth operations.
  • Track actual performance and quality against client specifications, identify issues, and implement corrective measures to achieve quality and productivity goals.
  • Address inquiries from Commercial/Technical teams to resolve client concerns promptly.
  • Inspire, motivate, and manage staff to accomplish work objectives.
  • Ensure operations are conducted safely, prioritizing the well-being of employees and others.
  • Conduct risk assessments, regular inspections, and audits, ensuring timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Document and investigate all incidents, accidents, and near misses.
  • Provide necessary information, training, and supervision to employees.
  • Utilize and promote short interval controls to manage operational expenses and reduce non-value-added activities.
  • Assess overtime requirements and prioritize tasks when resources are limited.
  • Propose improvements to processes, timelines, and efficiency while minimizing costs.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards while maintaining cost-effectiveness.
  • Responsible for training and development, time management, and task assignment to meet deadlines.
  • Manage employee absences, disciplinary meetings, and return-to-work discussions.
  • Provide support for the Production Manager during their absence.
  • Adhere to all relevant company policies and procedures, including Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Environmental, Technical, Equal Opportunities, Diversity & Dignity at Work, and Hygiene policies.

Qualifications for the Manufacturing Team Leader:

Essential:

  • Prior supervisory or management experience.
  • IOSHH Managing Safely certification.
  • Strong IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to positively influence and build strong relationships at all organizational levels.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Effective time management abilities.
  • Proven experience in developing and being fully accountable for their team and areas of responsibility.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of quality and technical standards.
  • Experience managing KPIs across diverse production lines.
  • Comprehensive understanding and management of GMP, health, and safety within their areas.
  • Accountability for introducing, embedding, and maintaining established and new processes and procedures.
  • Ensures timely completion of payroll.
  • Coordinates maintenance activities with minimal disruption to production operations.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the fresh produce sector.
